1:05pm | A transient Long Beach man who is registered as a sex offender was arrested after he allegedly groped a woman Saturday morning, Long Beach police said.

The victim was walking near the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Ximeno Avenue in Belmont Shore on the morning of June 18 when Daydrain Williams, 33, of Long Beach, allegedly grabbed her from behind and then made a lewd gesture to her before fleeing on foot, the Press-Telegram reported.

Williams was reportedly arrested momentarily by police about four blocks away, and the victim identified him as her attacker.

Williams is listed on the Megan’s Law website as having previously been arrested for annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18 and for sexual battery, but the site did not note whether he had been convicted of those crimes, according to the PT.

Anyone with information on Williams is urged to call the Long Beach Police Department’s Police Sex Crimes Unit at 562-570-7368.
