Long Beach police investigate overnight shooting, stabbing

Long Beach police reported a shooting and stabbing Friday, neither of them fatal.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting in the area of the 3300 block of Andy Street near the Lakewood Regional Medical Center at 8:15 p.m, police said.

Police located a 17-year old boy with a gunshot wound to the foot. He was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury to his foot, according to police.

Although the investigation is ongoing, police said they believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

About an hour later, police responded to a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of W. Pacific Coast Highway near the Washington neighborhood.

Officers located a man who had been stabbed in the upper body, police said, and he was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police believe the assailant and the victim are known to each other. Although the suspect is at large, the victim provided officers with information on the suspect, police said.
