6:54am | Long Beach police continue their search Thursday for two men who allegedly robbed four different victims in three separate incidents that occurred just minutes apart late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Nancy Pratt, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman, said the suspects are described as African-American males about 5’9″ to 6 feet tall. She said that based on the physical description of the robbers from the four victims, the timing of the incidents and the manner in which the crimes were committed,  detectives believe the two men are responsible for all three incidents
                                                                                                                               
The first incident occurred near 14th Street and Pacific Avenue at about 11:40 p.m. on Tuesday, A young woman was walking in that area when two men approached her, Pratt said. One of the men struck her in the head with a handgun. As she feel to the ground, the suspects took her purse and fled the scene heading east on 14th in a white, four-door sedan, possibly a Toyota or Nissan, Pratt said.

Some 20 minutes later at roughly midnight, two suspects confronted a man and a female near First Street and Alamitos Avenue. The pair was forced into a nearby alley after one of the suspects pointed a handgun at one of them, Pratt said. While one suspect went through one of the victims’ pockets, the other suspect went through the other victims’ pockets, stealing mostly personal items such as keys and a cell phone. The suspects then fled on foot, Pratt said.

Approximately 25 minutes later at 12:25 a.m. Wednesday, two suspects confronted a man near Seventh Street and Junipero Avenue. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the man wile the second suspect rifled through the victim’s pockets. The suspects stole a cell phone charger and then fled the scene on foot, Pratt said.

The African-American males suspects were both wearing shorts and hooded sweatshirts, and both were described as thin.

The LBPD is reminding residents to stay safe by following these safety tips, which could possibly prevent them from becoming a victim:

  • Never walk alone, especially after dark;
  • Be aware of your surroundings and who is around you at all times;
  • If you feel you are being followed or targeted, move to a well-populated and lighted area;
  • keep jewelry out of plane sight and concealed under clothing; 
  • Report suspicious activity immediately by calling 911; and
  • If you are the victim of a robbery, call 911 immediately and give a thorough description of the suspect(s).
