griefsupportLong Beach-based New Hope Grief Support Community will offer a free workshop next month for those who have experienced the death of a loved one, officials announced.

The grief workshop, titled “New Hope for the Holidays; A Conversation About Grief,” will feature an inspirational speaker, question-and-answer session, panel discussion and a candle-lighting ceremony honoring loved ones who have died.

Guests will learn specific strategies for managing activities and emotions that come along during the holiday season, organizers stated.

“The holiday season is already stressful for many people; for those who are grieving the death of a loved one it can be even more challenging,” said David Leonard, executive director at New Hope. “Grieving families need to have a plan for the holidays, New Hope wants to provide support in a safe environment with the proper tools to help them make their holidays a little more comfortable—this event will provide that opportunity.”

The free event will take place on Thursday, December 3, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Parkcrest Youth Center, 3936 Woodruff Avenue, Long Beach.

Those interested in attending can register at http://www.newhopegrief.org/holidays/ or call 562.429.0072 extension 2.
