Some estimates say that a rainstorm today could be much stronger than the one that flooded streets all around Long Beach yesterday, and that another rainstorm on Thursday could be even stronger still.
Casey Chel of the Long Beach Disaster Management Bureau said today that weather reports indicate that today’s storm could be up to 20% stronger than yesterday’s storm. Chel said that more than 24,000 sandbags have been organized for residents and business owners to protect their property. Click here for a list of places to obtain sandbags.
Chel said that the National Weather Service is predicting that storms will get stronger today and tomorrow, and while it looks as though the storm may have shifted a bit north of Long Beach it could certainly still bring significant rainfall and possible flooding again.
Drive safely and cautiously.
