Long Beach broke a 1977 record as the hottest February 15 ever recorded, with temperatures just shy of 90 degrees, according to an afternoon reading Monday by the National Weather Service.
The NWS post showed the city seeing temperatures hit 89 degrees, as of 2:30PM.
Other parts of the region saw record-high temperatures reached by noon, including LAX at 86 degrees, beating a 1977 record of 84 degrees.
In downtown Los Angeles, at USC, a temperature reading of 89 degrees edged past the previous record of 88, set in 1985, NWS officials said.
An old record of 84 set at UCLA in 1985 was broken when temperatures hit 88 degrees.
