2:45pm | It’s getting to be that time of year again, and Long Beach Unified School District on Tuesday afternoon announced the official schedule for its 2011 high school graduation commencement ceremonies.
Long Beach Unified oversees 12 different schools that will host graduation ceremonies in June for students who have completed all requirements to receive a diploma from their respective schools.
That means that next month will be a bustling one for LBUSD as thousands of members of the Class of 2011 will don caps and gowns and ceremoniously begin a new chapter in their lives.
In addition to its six traditional, or “comprehensive,” high schools — Cabrillo, Jordan, Lakewood, Millikan, Long Beach Polytechnic and Wilson — the district also oversees Avalon School, a small K-12 school located on the island of Catalina; the California Academy of Math and Science, a magnet high school for underrepresented populations located in Carson; Educational Partnership High School, an alternative school for students at risk of dropping out; Long Beach School for Adults; Reid High School, a continuation school for credit-deficient students; and Renaissance High School, which offers an arts-based curriculum.
