The VA Hospital in Long Beach is looking to fill up to 280 positions throughout the medical center during a job fair this Saturday.

The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 16, at the medical center’s Learning Center Auditorium Building 165. Attendees are encouraged to walk in with their resume, two forms of identification (one being a state-issued form of photo identification), proof of vaccination, and knowledge of the places they have lived for the last five years because they may be hired on the spot.

The medical center will be accepting applications for various nursing positions including certified nursing assistants, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses and medical support assistants, as well as food service workers, cooks and housekeeping aids.

Because this is an immediate-hire event, applicants will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and they will undergo the initial steps of the hiring process including labs, an occupational health screen and fingerprinting. Some may even walk out of the event with a tentative job offer, pending a drug screen and background check, according to a news release.

The VA Hospital in Long Beach is at 5901 East Seventh Street.
