The Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs Association has endorsed current Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell for sheriff. The association represents the 31 Fire Departments in Los Angeles County and is comprised of Fire Chiefs and command level Chief Officers who oversee the day-to-day management and operations of all fire services within Los Angeles County.

In a press release, Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs Association (LAAFCA), cited McDonnell’s experience, leadership and collaborative skills as being “unmatched” by any other candidate for sheriff.

According to Firefighter and Public Information Officer Will Nash, the Los Angeles County Sheriff plays an irreplaceable role in developing a unified path forward for responding to ongoing threats to the safety of all Los Angeles communities.

“The need for a strong working relationship between our local law enforcement and the fire service cannot be understated. Chief Jim McDonnell understands this and is the best person to provide the leadership needed to strengthen those relationships and play a key role in developing our collective path toward the future of public safety in Los Angeles County,” said Jim Frawley, President of the Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs Association.
