6:01am | The Port of Long Beach said Monday that road repair work at the intersection of West Anaheim Street and Santa Fe Avenue will commence in just more than a week on Wednesday, June 29.
The roughly $800,000 project entails the complete demolition and removal of the existing asphalt and road base and the construction of a portland cement pavement intersection and approaches, according to the request for proposals issued back in March.
Expected to take about five months to complete, motorists are being advised to expect traffic delays, according to the port, which is partnering with the city and the Gateway Cities Council of Governments to complete the project.
At least one lane in each direction on Anaheim Street will be open at all times, but “intermittent full closures” of Santa Fe are expected, port officials said.
The Gateway Cities COG obtained $487,500 from the L.A County Metropolitan Transportation Authority for the project. The port is covering the remaining cost.
