Long Beach police are investigating after two people were stabbed while walking in the California Heights area on Friday night, according to authorities.

Around 11:36 p.m. Friday, Long Beach police officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Pacific Place where they made contact with the victims, a man and a woman. The pair told police they were walking in the 3400 block of Long Beach Boulevard, half a mile to the east, when they were approached by a man who stabbed them.

The man and woman sustained injuries to their upper body and were transported to a local hospital, police said.

Police said they visited the area where the stabbing occurred but were not able to locate a crime scene or the suspect. The motive for the stabbing is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
