A Lancaster man was arrested on suspicion of negligent discharge of a firearm Sunday morning after shooting a firearm into the air during a dispute, police said.

Modio Fernandez, 33, was booked by Long Beach police on one count each of discharging a firearm and driving with a suspended driver’s license, authorities said.

Police said the incident happened around 3:06 a.m. at the 400 block of Nebraska Avenue in Alamitos Beach when Fernandez and a second man became engaged in a dispute, a witness told police.

After Fernandez allegedly discharged the firearm but before officers’ arrival, both adults fled the scene, according to the LBPD.

Shortly after the incident officers located Fernandez’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, according to police. Fernandez was then arrested and transported him to Long Beach City Jail for booking, police said.

No injuries were reported in the incident, and bail for Fernandez was set at $35,000, according to the LBPD.
