UPDATE | APRIL 13 9:53AM | The coroner’s office has released the name of the Redondo Beach man who was fatally injured while attempting to cross the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway on foot. The man was identified as 30-year-old Alex Ketabachi, said coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz. An autopsy is pending.
The person identified as Ketabachi was driving a 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser southbound on the San Diego Freeway when it came to a complete stop in the HOV lane due to a prior traffic collision, according to California Highway Patrol Officer E. Jackson.
“For unknown reasons, the driver exited his vehicle and attempted to cross traffic lanes on foot and was subsequently struck by a moving vehicle,” he said.

PREVIOUSLY: Man Dies After Being Struck by Car Friday Morning on 405 and 710 Transition Road in Long Beach
APRIL 10 10:53AM | A man died after he was struck by at least one vehicle early Friday morning on a Long Beach freeway, authorities said.
The fatal injury occurred at about 5:37AM on the transition road from the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway to the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Authorities withheld the name of the man, who was 30, pending family notification.
The transition road was closed while an investigation was conducted, and all lanes were reopened by about 9:00AM, the CHP reported.
The Los Angeles County Department of Coroner said the man was struck by at least one car. The CHP added that it was not immediately clear if he was a pedestrian or if he was ejected from a vehicle.
