A man died after two different cars hit him while he crossed the street in Bellflower Monday evening, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. while the man was crossing at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Ardis Avenue, which is between Bellflower Boulevard and Clark Avenue, Sheriff’s Lt. Timothy Milliman said.

The man was hit by one car as he crossed and then struck by a second vehicle in the No. 2 lane, according to Milliman.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the man was in a crosswalk. Authorities are still investigating exactly what caused the crash.

The man, who was in his 20s, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, according to Milliman.
