A man who was hit by a driver fleeing from deputies in November has died, police said today.

On the afternoon of Nov. 24, 2023, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies in Compton were attempting to pull over a man who they say was driving a stolen Dodge Charger. The driver led deputies on a pursuit for a few minutes before crashing into a white pickup truck in the area of Long Beach and Artesia boulevards just after 3:10 p.m., according to the Long Beach Police Department and the sheriff’s department.

The man driving the Dodge Charger was transported to a local hospital for treatment before he was taken into custody, police said.

Meanwhile, the driver of the pickup truck was hospitalized in critical condition, police said. He died of his injuries on Monday. His name was not immediately available as the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office works to notify his relatives, police said.

A passenger in the allegedly stolen vehicle and another in the pickup truck were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said previously.

Those who may have more information or who witnessed the crash are urged to contact detectives at 562-570-7355.
