A man who was hospitalized last week after crashing his car in East Long Beach has died, police announced Wednesday evening.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, who was identified only as a 22-year-old Gardena resident, was traveling northbound on Studebaker Road, near Loynes Drive, sometime around 9:22 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 20, when he lost control of the car and crashed into multiple “fixed objects” on the road, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and transported the man to a local hospital, where he died on Dec. 23 as a result of the injuries he suffered during the crash, according to authorities.

Police did not say what caused the crash, but detectives are investigating weather conditions and speed as factors, authorities said.
