A man driving a stolen vehicle was arrested today after leading officers on a foot chase through the Zaferia neighborhood in East Long Beach, police said.

Police identified the driver as Angel Madrigalcarreon, a 27-year-old resident of Long Beach.

Officers pulled the driver over while conducting a traffic stop of the stolen vehicle, police spokeswoman Allison Gallagher said.

During the stop, Madrigalcarreon fled on foot in the area of 11th Street and Ohio Avenue, police said. Officers established a perimeter in the area and searched for the man.

A K9 was brought to the scene, but the suspect surrendered to police before the dog was used, police said. The suspect was booked for vehicle theft, possession of various drugs, resisting an officer and possession of unlawful paraphernalia, Gallagher said.
