UPDATE | The body of a man washed ashore in Long Beach last Thursday was identified by the coroner’s office.

Authorities identified him as Long Beach resident Christopher Martin, 55, with his cause of death deferred pending additional investigation, according to coroner’s office spokesperson Lt. Larry Dietz.

His body was discovered about 7:00AM on Thursday, July 14 near 62nd Place and Seaside Walk, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officials said.

PREVIOUSLY: Man’s Body Found Washed Ashore on Long Beach’s Peninsula Thursday Morning

7/14/16 at 10:42AM | Long Beach police found the body of a man washed ashore Thursday morning in Long Beach’s Peninsula, authorities said.

Officers responded to 62nd Place and Seaside Walk at about 7:00AM on Thursday, July 14 regarding a dead man who had washed ashore, according to Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokeswoman Nancy Pratt.

She said foul play is not suspected at this time.

The county coroner will determine the victim’s identity and cause of death. Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said the man is believed to be in his 40s.
