Police say a man was hospitalized early Friday morning after being chased by multiple people from a bus stop near Seventh Street and then stabbed.
Officers were notified of the stabbing at around 1:36 a.m. and responded to the area of East Seventh Street and Orange Avenue, which is just north of Alamitos Beach.
At the scene, officers found the man suffering from non-life-threatening wounds to the upper body, and another person, identified by police only as a male victim, who was not injured.
The man was transported by Long Beach Fire Department personnel to a local hospital where he was treated for his injuries, police said.
Authorities later discovered that the man and the other male victim were sitting at a bus stop when they were approached by a vehicle.
An unknown number of men exited the vehicle and began arguing with the victims, police said. The male victim who was not injured ran away during the argument, while the other victim was chased down and then stabbed by the other men.
No further suspect information is known at this time, as they fled the scene before officers arrived.
The man doesn’t know the attackers, and it’s not clear what sparked the argument, police said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
