Police are investigating a shooting in northwest Long Beach that left a man injured Sunday afternoon.

Officers responded to the 6900 block of Orcutt Avenue around 3:42 p.m. Sunday, where they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

The man told police he was standing outside when he was approached by another man who shot him. The gunman fled before officers arrived on scene and the Long Beach Fire Department subsequently transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

“No suspect information is known and the motive for the shooting is unknown,” police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
