Police say they’re investigating a shooting Tuesday night near Ramona Park in North Long Beach that left a man injured.

The man, according to police, was walking in an alleyway just before 8 p.m. in the 6500 block of Indiana Avenue when someone in a vehicle approached him from behind and shot him in the lower body.

Authorities responded to the shooting and transported the man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. During the shooting, a nearby vehicle with a man and woman inside was also struck, however, they were not injured, according to police.

No other injuries were reported.

Though the suspect’s vehicle had fled by the time police arrived, officers found evidence at the scene including bullet casings and strike marks, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The driver of the vehicle, meanwhile, was described by police only as a male suspect.

A motive for the shooting is not known at this time, police said.
