Man in stable condition after being shot multiple times near Veterans Park, police say

A man was shot multiple times Sunday night near Veterans Park, but he refused to provide police more details about what happened, according to authorities.

Officers first responded to the 200 block of East Spring Street around 8:30 p.m. Sunday following reports of a shooting, LBPD spokesperson Brandon Fahey said.

Officers found bullet casings but no victim or suspects at the scene. The person who reported the shooting told police a victim went to nearby hospital on his own, Fahey said. Officers found the victim in stable condition but he refused to give police a statement regarding the incident, according to the LBPD.

Nevertheless, police determined a man approached the victim on foot, fired and then fled the scene in a white car before officers arrived, Fahey said.

No other injuries were reported and the motive for the shooting is unknown.
