A man was killed after being gunned down near Davenport Park in North Long Beach, police said.
Officers responded to the shooting in the 5400 block of Paramount Boulevard at roughly 8 p.m. on Thursday. Police found man with a gunshot wound to the upper body, and despite aid rendered by police and fire personnel, he was declared dead at the scene.
The motive for the shooting and the circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner.
