Police say they are investigating an assault with a deadly weapon that left one man injured near Shoreline Village on Sunday evening.

Officers responded to the 400 block of Shoreline Village Drive around 10:52 p.m. Sunday, where they found a man with wounds to his upper body.

The man told police he was near the boat docks when he was approached by another man who came up and attacked him before fleeing.

After the suspect fled, the victim noticed he was bleeding, police said.

At the scene, the Long Beach Fire Department treated the man’s injuries, and he refused to go to the hospital, police said.

The weapon used and the motive for the attack are unknown, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
