UPDATED MONDAY MAY 6: The man who was fatally shot Friday night was identified by police Sunday as 23 year-old Brian Johnson Dailey of Long Beach. According to a press release on the murder, the suspect remains outstanding and the incident is being investigated as gang-related.
ORIGINAL SAT MAY 4: Though police reported his injuries to be non-threatening as of late last night, a man who was shot Friday night died this morning, police officials said.
Officers responded at about 10:15PM to a call of shots fired near 10th Street and Linden Ave. found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, said Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries this morning.
No further details were available.
This is the third murder in the last week and the second in the first three days of May. The last four murders in the city have all occurred in the central area of Long Beach south of Pacific Coast Highway and between Long Beach Blvd. and Redondo Ave. A total of eight have occurred in the same area since the beginning of the year.
