A man was shot and wounded near Deforest Park in  North Long Beach Tuesday evening, according to police, but few additional details were immediately available.

The man was shot in the leg or foot and taken to the hospital in stable condition, LBPD Lt. David Frazier said.

Police said the shooting occurred at South Street and Jaymills Avenue at about 6:50 p.m.

Police have no suspect information at this time, but detectives are investigating, Frazier said.
