Authorities today have identified the man they say was shot in the chest while sitting on his porch near Downtown Long Beach Wednesday night.
Ashley Sampson, 33, was on the porch of his residence in the 600 block of Lime Ave. at around 8:50PM when the suspects approached and shot him multiple times, according to Sgt. Aaron Eaton of the Long Beach Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital nearby where he succumbed to his wounds.
Police described the suspects only as “possibly two male adults” and say they have no motive for the killing.
Sampson’s murder is the third death in Long Beach this week and the second one in 48 hours. Police do not believe that any are related. We will update this story with more details as they become available.
Anyone with more information on the crime was urged to call detectives Malcolm Evans or Todd Johnson, (562) 570-7244 or send anonymous tips via the website www.tipsoft.com.
