A North Long Beach man was shot while standing outside his home Monday morning but was able to drive himself to an area hospital where he is in stable condition, police said Tuesday.

The shooting occurred around 8:25 a.m. Monday near the 400 block of East 55th Street in the Dairy neighborhood of North Long Beach, according to authorities.

Long Beach police officers spoke with the victim at the hospital where he told them that he was standing outside his home when he heard gunshots and realized that he had been hit. The man was shot in the upper and lower body but his injuries are believed to not be life-threatening.

Police said that the motive for the shooting is currently unknown and no suspect information is available.
