A man was transported to a local hospital last night after suffering a stab wound following an altercation with another man in Alamitos Beach, according to authorities.

The incident was reported Saturday, June 27 at 9 p.m. near Cerritos Avenue and Second Street, said Long Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez.

The victim had non-life-threatening injuries to his upper body. He reported that “a short time prior he was involved in an altercation” with a man, which led to the stabbing. Both men are known to each other, De Prez said.

Officers set up a perimeter to find the suspect but he had fled the scene before they arrived. He remains at large.

The victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

The motive for the stabbing in unknown.
