Long Beach police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured Saturday evening, according to authorities.

The shooting took place at about 6:03 p.m. in the 2300 block of Pasadena Avenue, according to the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering a gunshot wound to the lower body, according to police.

The victim told officers that he was involved in a verbal dispute with another man, which escalated to the shooting, police said. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle prior to officers’ arrival, according to authorities, however, officers located evidence including casings and strike marks, indicating a shooting had occurred.

The investigation is ongoing.
