Man wounded in drive-by shooting while walking near MLK park, police say
A man was wounded Monday night after being shot while walking near Martin Luther King Jr. Park, authorities said.
Officers responded to the 1900 block of Lemon Avenue sometime around 9:29 p.m. following reports of a shooting, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
There, officers found the man suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body, the LBPD said.
At the scene, the man told the officers that he was walking when an unknown person in a car shot him and fled the scene.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel then transported the man to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
No suspect information is known at this time and a motive is not yet clear, police said.
