Police say they’re investigating a shooting near Houghton Park in North Long Beach that left a man injured on Tuesday afternoon.

The man, according to police, was in the 6300 block of Myrtle Avenue sometime around 3 p.m. when a vehicle approached him.

It’s not clear how many people were inside the vehicle, police said, but at some point one person got out and shot the man in the upper body.

Officers arrived just a few minutes after being notified of the shooting and located the crime scene, but no victims or suspects were found, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police later learned the man had taken himself to a local hospital after the shooting, authorities said, adding that his injuries were not life-threatening. No suspect information is known at this time, they added.
