Man wounded in shooting near Towne Center shopping center, police say

A 28-year-old man was wounded Saturday in a shooting at the entrance to the Long Beach Towne Center shopping center.

The victim told officers he was shot at about 4:35 p.m. in the 7500 block of Carson Boulevard, at the west driveway entrance to the East Long Beach shopping center, said Long Beach police Sgt. Daisy Paul.

Paramedics took him to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds to his  upper body, Paul said.

“There were no witnesses located and there was no suspect description provided,” she said. “Evidence was collected from the crime scene, including casings.”

The motive for the shooting was not known, Paul said.
