Mayor Bob Foster of Long Beach will host the first meeting of the newly established California Mayors’ Education Roundtable on Friday, November 16, 2007 in Long Beach at the Civic Center Plaza Public Library’s Meeting Room beginning at 10:45 A.M.  The Roundtable, organized by WestEd with support from The James Irvine Foundation, provides a means for California’s large city mayors to discuss common problems.

Mayor Foster will welcome a host of local mayrs to the inaugural meeting, including  Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido, Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard, and San Bernardino Mayor Patrick Morris.

The Roundtable is an important step by the state’s urban mayors to find new ways to build partnerships with their local school systems, city government and related agencies to make the necessary changes to address the needs of urban youth.

The Library is located in the City Civic Center Plaza, 101 Pacific Avenue in Long Beach.
