There is always something to be said when people recognize nonprofits with generous donations. And even when those donations stem from large organizations, the general public conception that said organizations “need” to donate is a bit off-kilter. In fact, the latter belief that there is a responsibility to donate is not necessarily true en tout. For one must remember that, even with the largest of organizations, there was still a person or set of persons who ultimately decided, “This group need to be recognized.”
And if there is a major pillar within the belief of both myself and the small family here at the Long Beach Post, it is that we believe in the power of recognition.
Yesterday at The Grand events center here in Long Beach, Council member Gerrie Schipske stood with Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center as the medical giant dispensed some $130,000 in grants to 12 Long Beach-area nonprofits during a recognition breakfast. This is the fourth year the medical center has held the breakfast that focuses on social agencies which improve the overall health of our community.
