Local bicyclists are planning a memorial ride from Lincoln Park to the Queen Mary and back to Belmont Shore this Saturday, January 16th, to remember well-known biker Gustavo Ramirez after he was tragically killed in a traffic accident last week. Riders are meeting at Lincoln Park at 8:00am this Saturday and will begin riding at 9:00am. A short remembrance will be held at Shoreline Drive and Shoreline Village Drive, where Ramirez was killed, at 9:30am.

A press release stresses that all traffic laws will be obeyed and riders are encouraged to wear helmets. The pace will be slow to medium so no riders will be left out.

A rosary vigil is also planned to honor Gustavo this Wednesday at 7:00pm, followed by funeral mass the next morning at 10:00am – both events will be held at St. John Bosco High School Chapel at 13640 Bellflower Boulevard in Bellflower. Graveside services will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park and a celebration of Gustavo’s life will be held at Pacific Sailing Yacht Club in Shoreline Village.

Gustavo was an adopted family-member of former Long Beach City Councilmember Rob Webb and was well known as a local cyclist who would sometimes ride his bicycle all the way to work in Manhattan Beach. He was tragically killed last Tuesday in an accident with a big rig at a Shoreline Village intersection.
