An East Long Beach girl who disappeared after school earlier this week has returned home on her own accord, police said Friday morning.

Authorities had been looking for Mia Gianna Goforth since Wednesday when she left home around 7:30 a.m. and didn’t come back, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

“Goforth had walked to school and was reported to have been there all day,” police said. “The last communication with Goforth was by text message at approximately 3:00 p.m.”

Police never suspected there was any foul play in her disappearance, but detectives are still trying to determine exactly why she didn’t come home and what she was doing while she was gone, LBPD spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said.

Goforth returned to her home on Fidler Avenue near Stearns around 9:25 p.m. Thursday, according to police.
