The 22nd annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade went off without a hitch in central Long Beach on Saturday, underneath a perfect sky that seemed to hold rainy weather at bay so residents could enjoy the vibrant celebration and festival at King Park.

In front of a huge crowd that seemingly continues to grow with each passing year, the parade wound north on MLK, turning on 19th Street and eventually arriving at King Park to a carnival-style celebration with rides, games, live performances and delicious food of all kinds.

Many of Long Beach’s most visible and charitable organizations participated in the procession, carrying with them the powerful words and principles in remembrance of the great Civil Rights leader’s legacy. It was a show of community, of youth and of strength and of togetherness; a show of triumph.

Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
