UPDATED 2:15PM | Police released additional information on Tuesday’s crash this afternoon, including information about how the motorcycle and vehicle
“The preliminary investigation indicated that a 2005 Honda CBR1000 motorcycle was traveling westbound on 7th Street at a high rate of speed,” a LBPD statement said. “The motorcyclist failed to stop at the red light where it broadsided a 2001 Nissan Altima. The driver of the Nissan was turning from eastbound 7th Street to northbound Termino Avenue.”
The driver of the Nissan was transported to the hospital for complaints about minor pain.
ORIGINAL 7:28AM | A main Long Beach artery was closed for most of rush hour Tuesday after a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a vehicle blocked the roadway. The motorcyclist who died at the scene of the collision was identified by the coroner’s office Wednesday as 27-year-old Daniel Comaniciu from Torrance.
The collision occurred in the 700 block of Termino Avenue at 4:40PM Tuesday, according to Long Beach police.
Police have not released details of the crash.
