A Long Beach Police Department motorcycle officer was involved in a solo traffic collision Wednesday when his bike came into contact with a raised center median and struck a tree. He was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and released.
Police say that the 18-year veteran officer was traveling eastbound on Spring St. at Rutgers Ave. at around 12:18PM when his LBPD motorcycle hit the median and collided with a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
Spring St. in the area of the crash was temporarily closed following the accident. Detectives were on scene and the investigation is ongoing.
