A woman died and a man was hospitalized after being thrown from the motorcycle they were riding on Ocean Boulevard near Bluff Park Tuesday night, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
Police said the man was driving the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle eastbound on Ocean Boulevard near Kennebec Avenue at around 10:30 p.m. when he “drifted into the westbound lanes.”
He crashed into a Mitsubishi Eclipse headed in the opposite direction, according to police.
“The motorcycle driver and passenger were then thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the westbound lanes of Ocean Boulevard,” police said in a news release. Both were taken to the hospital where the woman died, police said.
Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash, according to the LBPD.
Authorities have not publicly identified the woman.
