Three people were transported to local trauma centers in critical condition after a motorcycle/multiple-vehicle collision Monday night.

Long Beach Fire Department units and several California Highway Patrol officers responded to the scene around 11PM on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway near the Lakewood Boulevard exit, said LBFD spokesman Brian Fisk.

Arriving units discovered that a motorcyclist and an unknown number of vehicles had gotten into an accident. Three people were treated on scene and then transported to area trauma centers. One of the people involved in the collision had to have their lower leg amputated as a result of the collision

No further details were immediately available and the incident is being investigated by the CHP.
