A motorcyclist was critically injured Sunday in a crash involving a pickup truck on Pacific Coast Highway near Molino Avenue, police said.

The collision occurred around 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening while the motorcyclist was driving westbound on PCH, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Police said the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed and was doing a wheelie when he lost control and hit the truck that was going east on PCH.

The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital in critical condition, according to the LBPD.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
