UPDATE April 20 11:27AM | The motorist who was killed in the two-vehicle crash on Sunday, April 19, in Long Beach has been identified today, Monday, as 27-year-old Luis Paredes-Casimiro of Bell Gardens, according to City News Service. Paredes-Casimiro died at the scene of the accident.

April 20 10:19AM | A motorist was killed Sunday in a two-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway next to the Long Beach Airport.

The crash occurred on the northbound 405 Freeway, approaching Cherry Avenue It was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 12:15AM on Sunday, April 19. 

A motorist driving a 1990 Honda tried to merge onto the “slip ramp” exit lane toward the Cherry Avenue off ramp, according to a CHP report, but drove onto the curb of the raised median that divides the exit lane from the 405’s main four lanes.

The Honda then swerved left, across all four lanes of the freeway, and hit the center median wall. It stopped in the path of, and was struck by, a 2013 Toyota.

The Honda driver died on the scene and has only been publicly identified as a 27-year-old from Bell Gardens. The Toyota’s driver, a 25-year-old person from Duarte, was not injured. Both wore seatbelts and were the only people involved.
