Authorities Wednesday identified a 38-year-old bicyclist who was fatally injured in a crash with a car in Long Beach.
Michael McIntyre, who was homeless, was struck about 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 at Orange Avenue and 52nd Street and died three days later at a hospital, according to the coroner’s office and the Long Beach Police Department.
According to police, a 21-year-old Long Beach woman driving a 2018 Chevrolet Cruze “was traveling southbound on Orange Avenue approaching 52nd Street on a green light,” and the bicyclist “was traveling southbound on Orange Avenue in the northbound lanes against traffic, approaching 52nd Street.”
“Upon entering the intersection, the bicyclist made a westbound right turn on 52nd Street, against a red light. The bicyclist was struck by the Chevrolet Cruze entering the intersection on a green light.”
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. She was not arrested.
