1:15pm | A neighborhood in East Long Beach was still shut down at about 1 p.m. as police continued their hunt for a man who broke into a woman’s home and assaulted her Tuesday morning in what police believe was intended to be just a burglary, police said.
The incident occurred in the 2400 block of North Heather Avenue at approximately 10:58 a.m., Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman Nancy Pratt said.
Pratt told the Press-Telegram that it is believed the burglar did not realize anyone was home.
The assault occurred as the burglar was leaving the residence, Pratt reportedly said.
The LBPD’s K-9 and helicopter units were activated to assist in the search.
