Long Beach officials Friday marked the opening of the new Bayshore Lifeguard Station, a 524 square-foot building, and aquatic playground that features a climbing tower, trampoline and a tilt and spinner.

The facility, located at 5415 Ocean Blvd., replaces a wooden structure that had extensive damage, officials said. The new facility is the first station that is prefabricated, saving the city construction time and money, officials said.

In addition to providing safety for the city’s waterways, the station area also includes amenities such as storage space, changing rooms and showers for personnel, along with an area to provide first-aid to the public.

Construction of the building was a combined effort between the City’s Public Works Department, Exbon Development Inc. and the Public Restroom Company, city officials said in a press release.
