11:45am | Students, faculty and staff will welcome the new Long Beach City College Bookstore in a campus celebration and ribbon cutting on Tuesday, March 27, at 2:30pm in front of the new building I on the Liberal Arts Campus. The new bookstore, built with funding from the voter approved Measure E, is located on the corner of Faculty Avenue and Harvey Way.
The new store, housed in the former site of the Long Beach City College Foundation building has been completely renovated and expanded. After the Foundation relocated to Building O2 off of Lew Davis Drive, building I was completely renovated. The $2 million project included doubling the size of the former building from 4,000 to 8,000 square feet, removing all walls and fixtures, installing new electrical, fiber optics, and creating a welcoming new bookstore for students, faculty, staff and community.
The store includes all new furniture, shelving and casing, and a new receiving and shipping area for bookstore staff. The store will also be surrounded by new landscaping and architectural features that were designed with the input of area residents. The location of the new store has accessible parking for the community and new signage.
