The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners earlier this week elected new officers while it also bid farewell to two departing commissioners.

On Monday, during an annual selection of board officers, the board elected Lou Anne Bynum as its new president and Tracy Egoscue as vice president. Lori Ann Guzman was voted secretary of the board.

Guzman has served as board president, and Bynum as vice president, for the past two years.

The board, which is composed of Long Beach residents, oversees the Port of Long Beach.

“It’s an honor to be chosen as President,” Bynum said in a statement. “We have much important work to do on behalf of our customers and City. I look forward to working with my fellow Commissioners, Executive Director Mario Cordero and Port staff to continue to build the best and greenest port of the future.”

Bynum is executive vice president of College Advancement and Economic Development for Long Beach City College (LBCC). She was appointed to the commission in May 2014 by then-Mayor Bob Foster and again by current Mayor Robert Garcia in 2015.

Egoscue, a Long Beach-based environmental attorney, was appointed to the commission by Garcia in September 2014.

Guzman is the director of finance for the city of Huntington Beach and former chief financial officer for Long Beach.

During the meeting, the board also thanked and said farewell to two departing commissioners, Rich Dines and Doug Drummond, who have served on the commission since 2011, according to a release from the port.

The two have been replaced by former state Assemblywoman Bonnie Lowenthal, who is also a former Long Beach City Council member, and former Long Beach City Council member Frank Colonna. Both were appointed by Garcia and recently confirmed by the City Council.

Commissioners receive a $100 stipend for each meeting. The Harbor Commission directs Long Beach Harbor Department staff in development and promotion of the Port of Long Beach.
