The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will close the following lanes and ramps on northbound and southbound Long Beach Freeway (I-710) from the Glenn Anderson Freeway (State Route 105) to Firestone Boulevard next week.
Nightly, Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11:
8 p.m. to 6 a.m. – up to two lanes on northbound and southbound I-710 from Firestone Boulevard to SR-105.
Nightly, Tuesday, September 8 through Friday, September 11:
7 p.m. to 6 a.m. – northbound and southbound I-710 on-ramps and off-ramps to eastbound and westbound Imperial Highway.
According to Caltrans, the project is part of the I-710 “Long Life Pavement Rehabilitation” strategy from the San Diego Freeway (I-405) to the San Bernardino Freeway (1-10). The work involves rehabilitating 2.3 miles of aging pavement to provide a roadway with several decades of service life, improved pavement performance and a smoother ride for the traveling public. The existing pavement is being replaced with Long Life Asphalt Concrete (also known as ‘rubberized hot mix asphalt’). The existing median barriers will be upgraded to concrete barriers and roadway widening will occur where possible to provide standard lanes and shoulder widths.
